Surprise!!!!?

So, many of you already know this because we aren't very good at keeping secrets, but today was my first Dr. visit, so it's now official:

Number Two is on its way! Hooray! We are due on April 27th and everything looks great. The little blob was bouncing all over, so I guess we're destined to have another tiny Gavin-like hurricane. We found out over a month ago, but decided to wait until we saw the doc to make announcements since, as my dad put it, "You know, you don't have to call everyone you know the minute you get your clothes back on!" I know a lot of people like to wait a long time to tell people, and after having a miscarriage I can understand that a little better, but honestly, we're just too excited not to tell.

Gavin has been asking that we "Buy baby" for quite a while, so we tried to explain that there's a baby in mommy's belly, just like Aunt Julie. Now he pats my belly and says, "Hello baby!". If you ask his opinion we are definitely having a girl, and definitely naming her Kiwi, which he came up with completely on his own. Hmm...not sure about that one, but a girl would be fun.

Now honestly, no one can ever see anything in these pictures. It's kind of like the Rorschach ink blot test. But here's the general idea:

Of course, it also looks a bit like a monkey, don't you think?

Anyway, we'll find out in a few months what it is, so we'll put up a place to cast your votes sometime before that.
Since we got the big news I've been reading a lot of funny stuff about pregnancy symptoms, cravings, and lies women tell their husbands. My favorite: A woman who insisted that the smell of dish soap made her nauseous so her husband had to do all the dishes for nine months. Awesome! I've been queasy for weeks, so our house is more of a disaster than usual, but I haven't sunk that low yet. So far it's a lot like with Gavin - nothing tastes good (I've lost five pounds in a month), but I'd love a nice rare steak from Outback, even at four in the morning. I'm exhausted but have insomnia, so I've read five books in the last week and a half. How about you? Do you get crazy pregnancy symptoms/cravings? Told any major whoppers lately to get out of something you just didn't want to do? Horror stories from labor to freak me out with? Bring it on.

Yay! I'm glad it's official, and glad that you got an ultrasound and that everything looks good! That's so reassuring. Congratulations! I like the name Kiwi, I think you should go with it!

I loved being pregnant, and don't have that many horror stories to tell...but all I wanted to eat was fries, which probably was the reason for my HUGE weight gain!

Anyway, such good news, and let me know if I can help out, or watch Gavin sometime so you can get in a nap. One thing I do remember about being pregnant is that I was TIRED!

Woohooo! Congratulations!

I love the drawings over the ultrasound :).

I think Kiwii is a nice name ;).

Preggie stories: hmmm, with Nyah all I craved were donuts and eclairs. With my boy all I craved where steaks and fries.

Horror stories: none, other than I found out that I am lactose intolerant when I am pregnant so if I want to avoid the puking I have to stop drinking milk and yogurts.

Enjoy this beautiful time :). Congratulations again.

CONGRATS!!! That is so exciting. I agree with Emily, I like the name Kiwi :)
Remember that we are in the neighborhood, if Gavin ever wants to come over and play with Reagan!

Well, I don't know if I should go into pregnancy talk because I never stop. I remember that was all I could think about/talk about when I was pregnant. So if you want to talk about pregnancy with me I am here for you. Oh, the heartburn...that was so bad for me.

I am glad to hear Emery was being funny in Nursery. That is way better than crying and fussing the whole time.

Woohoo!! Congratulations, baby! We are totally in baby mode here, and I am so not over my own pregnancy/labor...ah, the stories I could tell. I think I developed a serious aversion to cooking while I was pregnant...the idea was that Brian would cook. Unfortunately, he can't cook...so we ended up eating lots and lots of McDonalds (which normally would sick me out, but for some reason I really wanted it all the time while I was pregnant)...which is probably why I gained 65 pounds with Ben. Hmmmm...maybe next time I should just admit I'm lazy and cook anyway.

Oh! I craved Chinese steamed taro buns and warm soy milk the whole time I was pregnant...and COULDN'T HAVE IT! I have never found steamed buns here, and the soy milk just isn't the same. I also craved Chinese dumplings (kind of like potstickers), and finally figured out how to make them myself. Mmmmmm! However I was way out of luck for my favorite soup noodles that were only available at a restaurant that was located in a dirt-floored underground garage in the Fungshan ghetto. Sniff. I still want those.

Congratulations! And eat that steak! The baby needs it!!!

Congrats! I'll bet Gavin will love being a big bro! That is funny that he wants to name it Kiwi. If it really was a monkey, Kiwi Lee would be a good name. But I'm not so sure that his future sibling would appreciate it as much as he does. You could always go with Brock :-) Heehee.

Reading everyone's pregnancy comments made me remember how certain smells made me gag. Not necessarily throw up, just gag. Now that this has been called to my remembrance, I'm sure it will even longer before Grant has a sibling. He'll just have to enjoy his only child/grandchildness for a while.

Well, congrats again! I am excited for you guys!

I found your blog. It is so cute. Congratulations on baby #2. I am so excited for you guys. I loved being pregnant, except at the end when I was just big, fat, and uncomfortable. But for most of my pregnancies I have good memories. Good Luck and I would love to help with little Gavin.

Congrats! We're so excited for you! The drawing on the ultrasound make me laugh!

When I was prego with Coleson I think I ate my bodyweight in Dorito's and Rootbeer everyday for a couple of months! That's not too wierd...
